Front Of House - Usher

Description: Assist inside the theater during productions/events, monitoring the audience and assisting patrons as needed.

Requirements: Must be 16 years or older

Front Of House - House Manager

Description: As the team leader for Front of House, you will welcome, organize and oversee other volunteers during the production/event.

Requirements: You must already have prior training to sign up as a House Manager. It's easy, just ask us how!

Backstage - Board Operator

Description: Run the lighting/sound console (or board) for a performance under the direction of the Stage Manager.

Requirements: Must be 16 years or older

Scene Shop - Set Construction

Description: If you like to tinker with projects or work with your hands, this position is for you! These volunteers help build, cover, and repair the scenery. Set construction encompasses a wide variety of construction techniques and materials. Projects depend on the degree of experience of the volunteer. Most projects are accomplished in teams and there is lots of room for on-the-job training.

Requirements: No experience necessary.

Scene Shop - Set Painter

Description: Try something new! Many painting techniques in the theatre are easy to learn. You can learn to paint scenery to look like brick, stone, marble, plaster, stucco, foliage, wallpaper, or a variety of wood grains. You can master such techniques as spattering, sponging, rag rolling and dry brushing.

Requirements: A steady hand.

Parade - Walker

Description: Show your support for the Phipps Center for the Arts! Walk the parade carrying a banner, tossing out candy, and handing out fliers.

Front Of House - Ticket Taker

Description: Scan tickets as audience members head into the theater.

Requirements: Must be 16 or older

Front Of House - Front Of Stage

Description: Assist inside the theater during productions/events, monitoring the audience and assisting patrons as needed. Remain inside the theater during intermission and after the show.

Requirements: Must be 16 years or older

Front Of House - Concessions

Description: Assist Phipps staff at Concessions for preshow and intermission. Hand our beverages, cups and snacks.

Requirements: Must be 21 years old or older

Backstage - Dresser

Description: Assist actors with quick changes, assist with costume maintenance during performances, etc.

Requirements: Must be 16 years or older

Backstage - Deck Captain

Description: Oversee the backstage area during performances, supervise scene shifts and fly lines, and ensure the show runs smoothly and safely.

Backstage - Electrician

Description: Hang and focus lights.

Requirements: Must be 16 years or older

Backstage - Run Crew

Description: Assist with scene shifts, and ensure the show runs smoothly and safely.

Requirements: Must be 16 years or older

Digital Volunteer

Description: Help us spread the word about the Phipps online! Provide marketing assistance.

Photography

Description: Event photography: take photos at productions, events, or in our galleries.

Visual Arts - Art Installation

Description: Help us hang artwork at the Phipps or at our offsite locations.

Visual Arts - Art Jury

Description: Be part of the process of choosing the artwork in our galleries.

Visual Arts - Art Festival

Description: Volunteer at the Spirit of St. Croix Art Festival: support artists and work the info booth during this fun weekend event in September.

Dance - Performance Volunteer

Description: Assist during dance performances with ushering/ticket taking/concessions.

Dance - Production Volunteer

Description: Assist behind the scenes on dance productions-- in the scene shop or costume shop.

Dance - Event Volunteer

Description: Support at in-house events and dance outreach in the community.

Music Council Volunteer

Description: Help guide and select Phipps music programming.

Music - Stage Manager

Description: Overall coordination during concerts.

Music - Deck Captain

Description: Oversee the backstage during concerts.

Costume Shop

Description: Sew and press costumes, assist with costume shop inventory, create costume crafts, etc.

Council Volunteer

Theater - Play Selection Committee

Description: Help the Drama Council read plays and choose a new season!

Backstage - Spotlight Operator

Description: Run spotlights during a performance.

Requirements: Must be 16 years or older

Backstage - Fly Line Operator

Description: Operate the flying scenery during a performance under the direction of the stage manager.

Requirements: Must be 18 years or older

Scene Shop - Strike

Description: Another successful show is in the books! Now we have to take the set down. Join the STRIKE crew as they help disassemble the set and get the stage reset and ready for the next show!

Backstage: Green Room Monitor

Description: Monitor student actors backstage, walk them to front of house entrances, and ensure they stay focused.

Requirements: Must be 18 years or older

Backstage - Dressing Room Monitor

Description: Monitor student actors in the dressing rooms, assist with costume changes, and ensure they stay focused.

Requirements: Must be 18 years or older
